Participants include adults, children, infants in strollers and the occasional dog.

On Friday, April 24 2009, teens from Syracuse's Westside will come together to share their knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS through dance, poetry, skits, music, and song.  The event culminates a month long process in which teens from the Spanish Action League, Boys and Girls Club, Huntington Family Centers, and Vincent House were given training in the basics of HIV/AIDS and the importance of protection and awareness and then asked to develop creative expressions to showcase their new understanding of the disease and its impact.  The April 24th gathering, called For Teens, By Teens -Know the Facts about HIV/AIDS!, is free and open to the public and will be held at the Boys and Girls Club on Shonnard St. in Syracuse, NY from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The program will also feature a keynote presenter (TBD), informational tables where teens and the community can talk to health care experts, free food and giveaways, a DJ, and prizes for participating teen groups.  Event partners and supporters include the four community centers which host the teen groups, Planned Parenthood of Syracuse/Rochester Region, FACES (a program of the Syracuse Model Neighborhood Facility), AIDS Community Resources, and Syracuse Area HIV/AIDS Technical Assistance Program (CNYHSA).  For more information, contact Luz Encarnacion from Planned Parenthood at (315) 475-5540 or
